IASTM
What is
IASTM?
IASTM stands for, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, and is a skilled technique performed by a physical therapist using specialized handheld instruments to evaluate and treat soft tissue restrictions. The instruments are applied to the skin and moved along the affected area to identify and address limitations within the muscles. This technique may help stimulate a healing response and is commonly used as part of a comprehensive treatment approach for musculoskeletal conditions. IASTM treatments can sometimes leave temporary marks on the skin, such as redness or bruising. This is a normal response and happens because of increased blood flow to the area. These marks are usually not painful and typically fade within a few days to a week
Benefits of IASTM
IASTM helps improve tissue mobility, reduce pain, muscle tightness, and enhance overall movement and function. It may assist in addressing scar tissue and soft tissue restrictions that can develop following injury or overuse. Some individuals report improved range of motion and decreased discomfort following treatment.
